Which moss killer, from our extensive range, you decide to use for cleaning your roof depends upon a number of things; the type of surface, the type of growth and what finish you are looking to accomplish. All of our moss killing products will kill moss. This may sound obvious but you can be assured that, if you buy our products, then you are getting a chemical that will do exactly what it claims to do.
The most popular product for cleaning a roof is BATICLEAN CR. It is pH neutral, therefore can be used on all types of roof covering, and does not require rinsing. This means that it is easy and quick to use and kills moss, lichen and spores.
If your roof has a lot of lichen (growth that sits very close to the surface and is normally white or yellow circles) then the Baticlean CR will kill it. However, if you want it removed then some manual intervention will be required. Either brush or wash the area, to remove the growth, then apply Baticlean CR to kill any remaining moss and the spores or you can use BATIFACE then wash the area. Batiface is not pH neutral and will kill growth on contact but it should be rinsed from the surface. Batiface will make the lichen soft and the rinsing will help to remove it.

The most effective time to use a moss killing product is when the plant is most active therefore when it is growing. Late winter, early spring and the Autumn months are the most active growing periods so, especially if using a systemic treatment such as Baticlean CR, this is the most effective time to start your treatments as the growing and active plant will absorb the moss killer and die over a few days.
If you are using one of our 'kill on contact' products, such as Batiface or Batifort, then the time of year is less important as the product does not require the plant to be active for it to work.
If you wish to kill and remove moss and algae on surfaces such as walls before applying a new coat of paint, then you can apply Baticlean CR which is a pH neutral systemic surface biocide and will not affect the paint.
Dilute Baticlean CR in water as per the usage instructions, spray on the surface and leave to act without rinsing. It will take a few days and then you can, optionally, clean down the surface with a brush and/or rinse. You can then apply another treatment of Baticlean CR if you wish to leave protection under the paint.
An older flat roof can be susceptible to moss growth as rainwater can pool on the surface. Stone chippings also provide moss with shade and can retain moisture; the perfect conditions for moss to grow, especially if in the shade. It is important to remove this moss as it may cause damage to the coating as it spreads and the surface expands and contracts with changes in the weather, causing small imperfections and allowing water ingress. Clumps of moss can break free and roll into gutters and cause blockages.
Given the construction of a flat roof, especially if old, it may not be safe to walk on the surface and so you should either seek the advice of a roofing contractor or use one of our telescopic brooms and extendable sprayer lances to tackle the job from the floor or edge of the roof.
Brush any loose stone chippings to one side and remove any loose moss, leaves or twigs so that you can treat the surface. If the surface is damp once uncovered, it would be a good idea to let it dry before treatment with Baticlean CR. Dilute it down 4:1 and spray all over the roof to kill any growth as well as the spores. Left on the surface, it will also prevent regrowth. If you are putting stone chippings back on the roof, then it would be a good idea to apply a second cost of Baticlean CR on the chippings.
Moss will hold moisture which will slow the drying of a thatched roof and potentially stop it from breathing. Many people also find the growth of moss on a thatched roof unsightly and it will attract birds to the roof which can cause additional problems. We recommend the use of Baticlean CR our systemic biocide and fungicide.

Baticlean CR can be applied using a watering can however you will not get the high coverage that you would with a sprayer. Coverage with a sprayer will be around 30m2 per litre but a watering can will give you far less coverage than this, even with a fine rose sprinkler. So, if you have only a small area to be treated (and you don't already have a sprayer), then it is probably be easier to just use a watering can however, invest in a sprayer if you have a larger area (maybe over 100m2) or if you would plan to use it in the future.
When applying Baticlean CR to ensure an even coverage it is always best to use a sprayer. When using a sprayer, to protect plants from any spray drift, it is best to hold a piece of cardboard over your plants or invest in a spray hood which will reduce 'drift' helping you to direct your spray to where you want it.
Any chemical, even those generally found under your kitchen sink, may be harmful to animals if not used in the correct way.
When applying our moss killing and surface cleaning products to a hard surfaces to treat growth such as moss, algae and lichen, then you must follow the usage instructions and if you have any queries then contact us and we will try to help you.
Contact cleaners, such as Batifort and Batiface are designed to be rinsed after use so, make sure that the area is well rinsed and dry before letting animals, such as cats and dogs, onto the surface.
Systemic cleaners such as Baticlean CR take longer to act as they are absorbed by the plant which will then die over a few days. It is left on the surface without rinsing so do not allow your pet access until the product and area is completely dry. Preferably, keep dogs and cats away from the treated surface for 24 - 48 hours.
Baticlean CR has a maximum coverage rate of 30m2 per litre. The size of a tennis court can vary as some will have larger areas outside of the playing area than others. The playing area is fairly standard at around 300m2 which means that, if you were to treat the whole of this area, you would require around 10-litres of Baticlean CR. Many courts can then have the same surface area outside of the court meaning that, in total, you would need around 20-litres to treat the whole of the playing area and surrounding area.

The difference between Batiface and Batifort is that Batifort is stronger out of the two as it kills black spots and is also more suited for pouros surfaces such as sandstone. Once applied using a sprayer, both Batiface and Batifort needs to be left on the surface for around 30 minutes then cleaned off using a pressure washer or a hose pipe and a brush.
Batiface should be diluted 50:50 which will cover 12 metre squared, for heavy soiled areas it can be used undiluted which will cover 6 metre square.
Batifort can be diluted 50:50 which will cover 10 metre square per litre or for heavy soiled areas it can be used undiluted which will cover 5 metre square per litre.
The best time to use our nematodes depends upon which type of nematode you are using. This may sound obvious but many people are unaware that there are different types as they all go by the name 'nematode'. There are many thousands of different types of nematode that have adapted to life in all types of environment. We have nematodes for the treatment of Chafer Grubs and Leatherjackets.

We have a wide range of spraying equipment to suit all requirements.
Generally the compression sprayers are a smaller capacity and are carried at the shoulder with a pump at the top. Some of the compression sprayers have optional back-straps so that they can be worn on the back. The knapsack sprayers are larger capacity, are worn at the back and have a handle at the side for pumping.
Check the pH of the chemical that you are using and if you are intending extended use of acids or alkalines then you can choose chemical resistant equipment. Obviously the pH of a product is not the only consideration when deciding which is the most suited sprayer as it is the main active ingredients that are going to cause any issues. A knapsack sprayer (also known as a backpack sprayer) is carried on your back. A compression sprayer is cylindrical in shape and is normally carried on a shoulder. Which sprayer is the best for you depends upon the type of work you are doing. Knapsack sprayers generally have larger capacity tanks and are designed for spraying large areas as opposed to compression sprayers that can be used for any type of job, either large or small.
One, very important, point to remember when deciding upon the design of sprayer is that, with a majority, of knapsack sprayers you are not compressing the air within the tank rather it is compressed within the compression cylinder that is inside the tank. This means that you have to compress the tank (pump the handle) far more often and, almost, have to 'pump to spray'. We do, however, have three models that can be pressurised to 6 bar (twice the normal maximum pressure) meaning that, once you are at working pressure, you won't need to pressurise as frequently as a standard model. These sprayers are our RS12, RS18 and RS18 Alkaline.
If you are looking to climb ladders or use telescopic lances, with your sprayer, then it may be advisable to consider a compression sprayer (unless you use the RS range) otherwise you will need a hand to pump the tank and another to hold a ladder or two others to hold a long lance. As the average number of hands, per person, is less than two you can understand why using some knapsack sprayers could be awkward.
The easy answer is that our telescopic lances will fit all the sprayers (apart from the hand sprayers) that we show on our website, both compression sprayers and knapsack sprayers. Some of the units will need a small connector but other than that you can use any of our sprayers with the large telescopic lances. The technical information of each sprayer will confirm if a connector is required or not.
If you are looking to connect our lances to a sprayer that you already own, we can't guarantee that they will connect with or without one of our connectors.
As each manufacturer of spraying equipment tends to have different threads and sizes, there is no guarantee that the 5.4-metre or 3.2-metre telescopic lances will fit any sprayer on the market.
The lances will fit all of our GOIZPER and IK sprayers as well as our electric rechargeable sprayer and Mesto sprayers however, the lances will require a connecting hose if being used with our Mesto sprayers or rechargeable sprayer. We recommend that you purchase a bundle with the lance which includes a hood and a directional tube with the connecting tube.
The pressure needed when spraying a liquid depends upon the product being sprayed and the circumstances in which the sprayer is used.
Many commonly used domestic products will not require a high pressure sprayer, perhaps only 3 BAR or even 1.5 BAR. However, thicker liquids will require more pressure.
Just because a sprayer can work up to a certain pressure, this does not mean that it must be used at that pressure. Some of our sprayers are fitted with specialist pressure gauges, allowing the user to choose the pressure that best suits them and the ideal pressure for the product being used.

In order to push liquid out of the tank, pressure must be built up. Room is left within the tank for air, which is pressurised prior to spraying. The difference between tank size and working capacity is to allow for this.
When buying a sprayer, it is worth considering the fact that more pressurised air within a tank (or a greater difference between tank size and working capacity) means longer spray time before one must stop and re-pressurise the tank.
It is also crucial to know the working capacity of a sprayer, not just the tank size, as this is the maximum level to which the tank can be filled and still function properly.
Whilst our extensive range of compression sprayers and knapsack sprayers give you a whole host of options that will satisfy the requirements of most people, there are always some customisation that would make a, very good sprayer, perfect.
So, we are able to offer a number of variations to some of our sprayers such as different handles, longer hoses, additional lances or a selection of different nozzles. We recently helped a customer who bought one of our PROFI PLUS sprayers but wanted an additional, longer hose. The sprayer is supplied with a 2.5-metre hose but, because of the type of work the customer needed to complete, they wanted the longer length which would enable them to stand the sprayer on the floor and walk to the areas that needed to be sprayed. We supplied the longer, 5-metre, hose and their work was made much easier.

Quality and price. ProSanit is a high quality, professional product that is supplied in concentrated form. If you are using it at 5% dilution (for general cleaning) then 1 litre of ProSanit will make around 20 litres of cleaning solution.
Glyphosate is inert once applied (does not move) so generally does not affect untreated plants, such as nearby flowers. In soil, glyphosate usually breaks down within days so that it becomes unavailable to untreated plants that are planted later on. We recommend to always leave a few days to a week or two as glyphosate is absorbed through the leaves and progresses to the roots systemically If you disturb the weeds before they are dead you may risk breaking off live roots that could sprout again. If you are planting edible plants, such as hetbs and vegetables, we would recommend leaving it for at least a week. If sowing vulnerable grass or seeds, also leave it for at least a week.
We recommend filling the sand in before treating with Baticlean CR to ensure everything has coverage and moss growth is prevented over the whole driveway.
