Why is it advisable to remove moss from my roof or drive? Can I not just use a fluid from a DIY store or bleach or even a high pressure cleaner?

Whilst some people may like the appearance of moss on the roof, the plant's growth can have a detrimental effect on the stability of such structures.
The roots of the moss can actually grow beneath slabs and tiles and this causes most problems when the roots absorb water. Often, in freezing weather, the sodden roots can actually dislodge tiles. Sometimes, the moss or algae can become very slippery. This is very important on areas of high movement such as pathways or sports surfaces such as tennis courts.
Our simple application of Batimoss or Batiface will kill the moss, and we have solutions such as Hydromoss to prevent its regrowth for months. You may like to see here how to apply our products.

There are many 'home' solutions referred to but you do have to be careful. Many solutions will only kill the surface of the plant and if you leave the roots, then regrowth is inevitable within a matter of weeks. If you use stronger solutions, then you have to be careful about harming other plants, wildlife, even pets and children. Caustic solutions, such as bleach will degrade the surface to be treated. High pressure cleaners can also have the same effect. Don't forget that our solutions have been designed and tested over many years and used in many different scenarios to do just this job without harming the surface or others.
