Driveway - Monoblock-Brick

Moss Killing - Clean Monoblock or Brick Driveways

Monoblock driveways and paths, whilst looking great and being extremely functional are breeding grounds for moss, lichen & algae, especially between the blocks themselves.

There are a number of ways to treat these areas depending upon the way that you wish to work, the tools at your disposal and how much work you wish to do. However, as with many other processes the work should be relatively light all you really need to do is to allow the products to do their job.

PREPERATION

Before you do any treatments you should brush the area, preferably with a stiff brush, to remove as much dirt and loose growth as possible. If the area has weeds then these should be pulled or a weed killer applied. To remove any deep dirt and oil stains use BHA-F Brick & Stone Cleaner (full instruction on the product pages).

TREATMENT

Option 1
After brushing, spray the area with RAPID MOSS & ALGAE KILLER - Batiface. This kills the moss & algae growth on contact and should be left on the surface for between 30-60 minutes. After which the area should be washed with either a hosepipe and brush or, ideally, a SMALL pressure washer. The pressure washer not only rinses the product but also removes the dead growth from the surface and between the bricks.

Once the area has been cleaned, and is dry, you can undertake any remedial works that may be required such as re-jointing. After this we advise the application of CONCENTRATED MOSS & ALGAE KILLER - Batimoss CR. This will kill the moss spores and stays on the surface to inhibit re-growth.

Option 2
Alternatively, after the initial preparation just spray the area with CONCENTRATED MOSS & ALGAE KILLER - Batimoss CR.

FUTURE
You should always try and keep the area clean and remove leaves and anything that causes shade across the area especially during the winter months. Brushing the surface occasionally will help and does take too much effort.

In addition to this you can treat it every 10 - 14 months simply brush the surface and, on a dry day, apply a new coat of CONCENTRATED MOSS & ALGAE KILLER - Batimoss CR or just wait until the first signs of new growth appear before applying a new coat.

You can also seal the driveway which will protect it from moss growth, oil staining, dirt ingress and extreme weather damage. FLOOR & STONE SEALER - Procover will provide protection for up to 10-years alternatively HFR-F Floor Sealer will provide protection for between 2-3 years.
